Who we are
Benjamin Jans, the founder of Advanced Precision Consulting, established the company in September of 2014. With over a decade of experience in servicing robotic and GPS machine control systems, Benjamin's journey in the construction industry began early, growing up on a farm and later working for local contractors. His formal education includes an associate's degree in civil engineering technology, which led to his role as a head surveyor for an engineering firm in Sioux Falls, SD. After eight years of surveying, Benjamin pivoted to the machine control sector, working with Caterpillar dealers across Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado. This immersion in emerging technologies allowed him to master these systems, and with two decades of experience, there is very little he has not encountered or resolved.
Benjamin's expertise has been applied to numerous large-scale projects, including the BNSF rail expansion project in Kansas—the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. He was responsible for establishing all base points and conducting site calibrations for all nine segments of this project, which spanned 63 miles and included several machine control setups. Benjamin also pioneered the automation of a dual GPS system on a CMI trimmer, which was a world-first at the time. These are just a few examples from the hundreds of projects he has been involved with throughout his career.
